My original training as a ceramic artist was in Adelaide in the early seventies. This was the start of an ongoing love of clay. I came to Melbourne in 1975 where I continued my studies as a potter. I have furthered my education by attending numerous workshops run by a diverse range of well known artists. Over the years I have worked with many types of clay, but have always sought to achieve forms which are pleasant to the eye and radiate a sense of serenity and purity. My experimentation with different clays and glazing techniques over the years has taken many forms, but I very often seem to be drawn to porcelain for its translucency and delicacy. I have recently been working with Southern Ice Porcelain. With this clay I have been able to achieve the purity, whiteness and translucency which I desire. |
