STATEMENT COLLEEN WESTE SILK SHIBORI ARTIST  

I have been a silk artist for many years. I  combine my love of colour and a spiritual connection to the bush to create individual silk art to wear..

I am  addicted to dyeing on silk,  shibori and stitchery and excited by their many possibilities

I hand paint on silk-everything starts white-dyeing, overdyeing with French dyes, using a shibori resist technique to create colourful patterns and textures on cloth.  

I have studied  with Japanese shibori masters both in Japan and Australia and shown in many group exhibitions including Gown of the Year, Fashion Fantasia, World Shibori Exhibitions in Paris and now around Australia. In 2009 I am a finalist in World of Wearable Art New Zealand.  

In 2007 I was featured on ABC TV Sunday Arts Programme.
