Lorraine Lee: Mixed Media

As far back as I can remember I have always been creating. My grandmother showed me how to crochet at 7 and from then on I was making something. Throughout my teaching career I explored many different areas of visual art as an Art Teacher including textiles, paint, clay, drawing media, printmaking and digital art forms. For many years textiles was my favorite medium but since retirement I have found that I have time to explore other media and in the last few years I have begun painting and printing.  I was introduced to a gel plate for printing and love the unique, individual prints this technique can produce. I print on many surfaces and use the prints to make journal covers, jewelry, accessories and collaged, painted pictures. Through this I have been able to incorporate my love of textiles and produce mixed media work that is full of color and texture.
